This morning Jace was still really sick, so he stayed home from school.  Gavin threw a fit about wearing pants, of course, but he gave in and looked awesome!  I was looking for his shoes when I heard the bus pull up.  I looked over at Gavin and he was sitting on the couch gazing into space, without shoes on.  We had to scramble to find his shoes, put them on, then run out to the bus.  Nothing new :).

Axton ate cereal for breakfast, then took a bath in the kitchen sink.  Cosi wanted to get in the sink too, so I took Axton out for her.  He was not happy about this at all, so I had to improvise and grabbed a bowl, filled it with water and some dish soap.  I put down his towel on the kitchen floor, gave him the bowl and a paint brush.  We stirred the water really fast to create bubbles and painted the cupboard doors with it.  He calmed down about not being in the sink.  I ran down stairs to get him a diaper and by the time I returned, Axton had pooped on the floor.  Cosi and Jace were horrified.  Axton was staring at it, then looked up at me, pointed to it and said "uh?".  It was so much fun (I'm not being sarcastic, I really didn't mind the poop, all kids were happy).

Jace was not thrilled about taking his medicine.  He finally took it, chugged some water and cried a little bit.  Then he walked into the kitchen and puked all over the floor.  Lovely!  I cleaned up the kitchen and made breakfast.  Jace had noticed the jar in the kitchen titled "Boredom Busters" and came to me asking what it was.  I explained what to do with it and he was pretty excited to try it out.  After about 5 minutes, he came to me saying, "Mom, I'm bored".  We took out the jar and pretty much used it all day long.  I was so grateful that I took the time to put it together last night because it saved me.  Jace does not do well to entertain himself, but when he was able to get some ideas, he was very serious about it.  I was able to accomplish so much today!! I cleaned the kitchen, the living room, did about 4 loads of laundry, cleaned the basement bedroom and began moving toys into it.  Usually when Jace is sick I have to be with him all day long and listen to him whine and bring him everything he wants.  Today, he was very busy and loved it!  He made a picture by gluing macaroni and beans on paper, helped vacuum out the couches to look for loose change (this was kind of a bummer because there was no new change since the last time I did this), learned what countries are in North America, did origami, created a DIY puzzle for Cosi to play with, combed the dog, learned a new magic trick, and more.

Cosi loved tormenting her little brother all day.  She did everything he could to make him cry, scream, and fall over.  She liked leading him to do things that would get them both in trouble, like getting the burned sticks out of the fire pit.  She also tormented Jace quite a bit.  She was able to calm down at times to do some of the fun stuff with Jace.  She really enjoyed it when Jace sat down to do the puzzle game with her.  She likes feeling included.

When Gavin came home from school, Jace introduced him to the jar.  We were able to keep him entertained until dinner by building a fort, making his own picture, and we all made dough sculptures to bake and eat with our dinner.  Gavin put a bullet in his dough (he is obsessed!)

After dinner we took Gavin to the Camp K activity, horse riding.  When we returned home, we had family home evening.  We read a little from "The Family, A Proclamation to the World" then made family trees.  When Gavin came home (at 10:10pm) he wanted some ice cream, so we sat, ate ice cream and he told me about his day.  He is funny when he is tired, lol!  It was an exciting day!  I hope we can keep up on the Boredom Buster Jar.  It really kept everything more peaceful than typical.  I love these Kiddos!

We love and miss you Daddy!  We hope you are working hard and enjoying your new job.  See you soon!
